Grading The Starters:
PG: Kemba Walker: B+
-Kemba continues to be clutch in the crunch time.
SG: Gerald Henderson: B-
-Very streaky game for Hendo tonight.
SF: Anthony Tolliver: C
-Not much from Tolliver tonight. However he contributed with a timely 3.
PF: Josh McRoberts: B+
-Josh continues to play a big role in the Bobcats offense.
C: Al Jefferson: B
-Just an average game for Al, who contributed with 11 boards.
Player Of The Game: Kevin Durant (F)
-Serge Ibaka had a very strong game. People don’t give him enough credit. He’s not just a defensive specialist, he’s an above average offensive big man as well.
-The Bobcats continue to show their ability to get back into games. They found themselves down as many as 11 in this one, but got within two by the end of the third. Putting together these comebacks is a lot harder than it seems. It’s not like these teams are letting the Bobcats back in. They are working very hard to correct their previous mistakes.
-Cody Zeller continues to develop as a rookie. Slowly but surely he’s proving to be a good pick.
-Josh McRoberts continues to be an integral part to the Bobcats success. His play tonight was very solid, as it has been most of the year.
-The absence of MKG’s defense was felt late in the fourth when the Bobcats didn’t really have an answer for Durant and were forced to double team him.
-Even though it’ll go in the loss column, it was a solid performance for charlotte tonight. They will look to build on this performance heading into the road trip.
In My Opinion:
The Bobcats are in a position to be good now. The way the eastern conference is set up, right now for Charlotte a playoff birth is looking a lot more likely than a lottery pick. With that being said, the Bobcats need to give themselves the best possible chance at winning now. Ideally they are one year away from being a legitimate basketball team, but with the defense Coach Clifford is putting out every night, they will always have a chance. When you look at this roster, it’s fairly solid, but they're missing an outside threat. It has been rumored that Arron Afflalo is a possible target. I would like that move, however I don’t see Orlando letting him go unless the Bobcats are able to give up one of their three possible first round draft picks in next years draft. This time before the trade deadline should be a busy one for Rich Cho and his crew. The true identity and mindset of this Charlotte team will be revealed by February 20th.
Next Bobcats Game:
Charlotte will have a quick turnaround as they will jet off to Atlanta soon after the game. This will be the first of five away from the cable box. Tipoff is set for 7:30PM at Philips Arena.
