According to multiple reports, Lance Stephenson has agreed to terms with the Charlotte Hornets. This move was made after Rich Cho, Steve Clifford, and Michael Jordan met with him in Las Vegas. According to Chris Broussard of ESPN, Jordan really likes Stephenson’s game, but had questions on what he would bring to his locker room. All of Jordan's doubts were gone after the meeting, which ultimately led to the signing.
Personally, I think this 3-year, $27 Million deal is an outstanding contract for the Hornets. Not only did they get a guy who will improve the team, but they got him on a relatively friendly money, as Stephenson's playoff antics undoubtedly lost him some money in the offseason. With that being said, he’s out to prove himself with the Hornets. The Hornets should certainly expect Stephenson be better than ever on the court with Charlotte.
This move puts the Hornets that much closer to advancing past the first round next season. The Eastern Conference has gotten a lot better and is basically wide open. By making this move, Charlotte should find themselves right in the middle of it next season.
