The Last Time Out
The Hornets played well in their last game against the Miami Heat, winning 96-89 on behind Big Al’s monstrous 28 point, 10 rebound performance. It almost seemed like Wednesday night’s win was a “passing of the torch” in the Southeast Division, as the Buzz ended a 16-game head-to-head Miami winning streak. On another note, Josh McRoberts was pretty unimpressive for the Heat, with only two points in eight minutes of action. However, Marvin Williams also had a lackluster game, scoring only six points and five boards for Charlotte. Nevertheless, the Hornets were good in their last win, showing fans what we expected of this team at the start of the year.
Matchup to Watch For
Kemba Walker Vs Jeff Teague: Despite pretty average numbers through the first five games of the season, I believe Kemba has really played well thus far in 2014, and has showed that he can be that leader for Steve Clifford’s team. However, former Wake Forest star Jeff Teague (2.3 STL) will be a tough matchup and a good test for Walker. The winner of this point guard battle could certainly the difference in a win or loss for Charlotte tonight.
Despite 2013’s struggles against Atlanta, the Hornets are now clearly the more talented team this season, and should handle the Hawks tonight at home. Hornets will 101-97.
