The Last Time Out
As previously mentioned, the Hornets fell to Memphis last night 71-69 in front of a sold-out home crowd at the Hive. And as one might expect when NBA two teams combine for only 140 points after 48 minutes of basketball, it was an ugly, defensive grind for both teams. Unfortunately for Charlotte, it was the turnovers that really cost them, as the team finished with 20 miscues that lead to multiple fast-break opportunities for Memphis. Al Jefferson and the rest of the Buzz will need to be more efficient if they want to have a chance of beating a Knicks that beat LeBron’s Cavs last Thursday.
Matchup to Watch For
MKG Vs Carmelo Anthony: Personally, I love to watch the matchups between players with opposing styles of play, and Carmelo and MKG are nearly polar opposites of each other: Kidd-Gilchrist is the gritty, tough, defensive-minded forward while Melo is savvy star with a NBA scoring title under his belt. Tonight’s game will be a good opportunity not only to see how far MKG has come offensively, but also a chance to prove his defensive dominance once again.
Despite all the ugliness that the Hornets showed last night and the proficiency that the Knicks displayed last week against Cleveland, I have Charlotte winning this one with ease. Maybe it’s just the Knicks lackluster starting lineup that’s not impressing me, but regardless, look for Steve Clifford to get his team back on track in the Big Apple. Hornets win 104-93.
