Grading The Starters:
PG: Kemba Walker: C
-I’m sure Kemba would like to forget this game. In particular, a shot that would of tied the game in overtime.
SG: Gerald Henderson: B+
-Henderson played well tonight. If he’s going to be a big player in this league, he needs to find a way to be more consistent.
SF: Anthony Tolliver: B
-Good minutes from Tolliver tonight. Someone who’s effort can never be questioned.
PF: Josh McRoberts: C
-Not a great game for Josh, but he contributed with some timely blocks and assists.
C: Al Jefferson: A
-Huge game for Jefferson tonight. Scoring more than 20 points and collecting more than 20 boards.
Charlotte Sports Blog’s Player Of The Game: The three point line.
-Atlanta took a whopping 39 three point attempts. When you shoot as many threes as they did tonight, you’re never out of the game. Without the three point line, the Hawks would of been lost.
-Chris Douglas Roberts certainly gave the Bobcats some quality minutes in this one. In a game where Mcroberts and Zeller found themselves in foul trouble, CDR stepped up nicely.
-The Hawks, for the most part, seemed lost without Al Horford. Three pointers were good enough tonight, but going forward they will not be able to rely on that.
-Bismack Biyombo played a well rounded game. His defense was there, as it usually is, and his offense was above what we usually get from Biz.
-Ramon Sessions played one of his better games in a Bobcats uniform.
-Steve Clifford should certainly spend some time with his team covering perimeter defense. Too many open threes led to way too many easy points in this one.
In My Opinion:
The day that Michael Kidd-Gilchrist gets back to playing should be a happy one in the eyes of Bobcats fans. Everything that Coach Clifford gets frustrated about are things that MKG excels at. With that being said, there hasn’t been as much of a defensive drop off as some may of expected. When MKG returns, it will only help them to keep their elite level of defense, which could propel them to contend for a top 4 seed in the Eastern Conference.
This was a bad loss for the Bobcats. If they’re going to be competitive, they have to win games they should win. Tonight was one of those, but they couldn’t close it out after being up 14.
Next Bobcats Game:
The Bobcats will be back in action Monday night from Energy Solutions Arena in Utah. The Cats will have some revenge in mind after the Jazz beat the Bobcats on Buzz City night a few weeks ago. Tipoff is set for just after 9PM EST. We’ll have the preview for you Monday afternoon.
